“Yes, It IS All About Me!”
I just love to talk about myself. Yeah, me, me, me. This might be a long post.
Ross from Will it change you “tagged” me with a task to divulge six secret random things about myself. This might be for mature audiences only. No, just kidding.
I’m not sure where this idea originated from so if you do, please leave the credit in the comments section. Well you asked for it, well someone did, so here goes.
- The girl in me (that was probably not politically correct). I am a Wife, Mommy, Auntie, Daughter, Sister and Granny. Granny is the best job ever. People tell you how wonderful it is going to be and you think, yeah it will probably be fun. You can’t appreciate a granny story unless you are a granny. Unless you are a grandparent, your eyes will glaze over as soon as I say “you can’t believe the cute story I have about my grandbaby”. But just like most life lessons, you really never know until you experience it yourself.
- They call me…Jane Deere. You know it! I love my John Deere utility tractor. It is a mower, with a bucket, some forks, a back blade. Oh yeah. I do the majority of the mowing as my husband works crazy hours in the summer. We have a couple of acres to mow so my 54” deck is real nice. I have all the Jane Deere apparel. And they are right, nothing runs like a deere.
- Dudette – where’s my Harley? Yeah, where is it? Okay, it’s not a Harley. Actually, I do have a motorcyle but mine is a Rebel. (he he he.) Rebel – who me? I just started riding a couple of years ago. My midlife crisis adventure. Better than an affair or divorce! My husband has a Yamaha. We have added all kinds of upgrades to our Yamaha. We have as much money into the accessories as we do in the bike. I have a method to this madness. When hubby gets a bigger bike, I get the Yamaha with it’s cool pipes and all.
- Entrepreneur a/k/a Self-Made Millionaire! Okay, I am not a millionaire by any stretch of the imagination, but an entrepreneur for sure! I have been self employed for most of my life. A few years ago, (during a grief stricken period of my life) I sold my business. Ouch. I am now working for someone else. Ouch again. What a tough pill to swallow. In any event, I will be a self-employed blogger in the very near future.
- I’m a hard worker, not always a smart worker, but always a hard worker. I am not afraid to get dirty. Too often, I have been caught taking the long way around. To me, it doesn’t matter how it gets done as long as it gets done. Don’t get me wrong, I prefer the shorter, easier way but if it has to take me a hour to do a five minute job, well so be it. “At the end of the day” the job will be done.
- I am a positive thinker. I try to see the good side of everything. Even in traumas and dramas. Most people don’t want to hear my “it could be worse” scenario. But it almost always could be worse. Or even when what you have is unbearable, truly someone else has it worse. I could tell you stories that would make your hair curl.
- I am as honest and loyal as the day is long. I am devoted to my husband. We are committed to each other and to each other’s dreams and aspirations. I have never felt such undying love and support from another person. I know, sounds all corny and everything but I don’t care how it sounds. My husband and I have a dream. We actually share the dream. It’s not more his than mine or more mine than his. We want to build a log home. Yeah, we know, we have simple dreams. Did I mention we want to do this without the baggage of a mortgage? We are clearing and preparing a lot and have been working on it for a couple of years. Beware, more corny coming up. This property is completely “heaven on earth”. I finally know what it means when people say life is what you make it. I can’t explain it, but I don’t feel more safe or happy or at peace, I guess then when I am digging or raking or pulling stumps. I know. People just can’t understand. I am tired of trying to explain it to some people. Yes, I really would rather buy an implement for my John Deere than go on vacation or buy new clothes or anything else.
My husband had me throw that last one in. I told him the rule was six not seven. I am sure some of this is too much information and it was more fun than I anticipated. So my next part is to tag six people. The rules are as follows:
THE RULES:
1. LINK TO THE PERSON WHO TAGGED YOU
2. POST THE RULES ON YOUR BLOG
3. WRITE SIX RANDOM THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF
4. TAG SIX PEOPLE AT THE END OF YOUR POST AND LINK TO THEM
5. LET EACH PERSON KNOW THEY ARE TAGGED AND LEAVE A COMMENT ON THEIR BLOG
6. LET THE TAGGER KNOW WHEN YOUR ENTRY IS UP
7. DON’T BREAK THE CHAIN (not actually a rule)
Ok, so here’s who I’ve picked. My apologies if any of them have already been tagged. You have to be fast in this blogosphere. No rest for the wicked!

3 Steps To Achieving Your Goals

“3 Steps To Achieving Your Goals”
Are you a goal setter? Are you a dreamer? Do you try to make your dreams come true by an organized plan or by wishful thinking? You have a plan and success is in your future! Your plan includes a step by step course of action and life is good! All you have to do is follow through.
Do you follow through with them? It doesn’t do any good to write something down then not look at it. What is the difference between goals that fail and goals that are successful? There are 3 critical steps to any goal. A goal must be defined, measurable and Acted on.
- Define
Define your goal. What do you want? What do you really want? You have to have an end result. What do you want to accomplish. You should be very specific. Rather than say “I want to make a lot of money”, explain your goal. I want to make $100,000.00 in extra income in a five year period. It’s difficult to know which way to go when you don’t even know where you want to go.
Make your goal believable to you. You described what, now you need to define how. HOW are you going to accomplish this goal of $100,000.00? Let’s sell an eBook!
- Measurable
Detail, break it down. Make it measurable. List step by step reasonable tasks that will get you closer to your goal. Divide the massive task over a smaller, more manageable process.
Take your $100,000.00 goal and divide it over the 5 year period. That breaks down to $20,000.00 per year, divided over 12 months is $1,668.00 per month even further - $416.00 per week. Doesn’t $416.00 a week feel more “believable” than $100,000.00?
What are you going to do to achieve this now weekly goal? How many eBooks do you need to sell to make $416.00 within a week? Break down the detail. Depends on the price you will list on the eBook you sell. For this goal, let’s sell our eBook for $9.95 each. we will need to sell 42 eBooks per week.
- Action
The final step in accomplishing your goal is action. What action will you take to accomplish your goal? The action steps need to be realistic & measurable.
Once you are setup with your goal and you have it in measurable segments, set up checkpoints to insure you are on track. At the end of every month, see if you are where you are supposed to be. Then set quarterly checkpoints. Don’t let your goal get too far off track, at the same time, don’t get discouraged after only a couple of weeks, especially in sales. This type of goal can be dependent on cycles or be seasonal.
A goal is a dream with a deadline. What are your dreams? What do you do to accomplish your goals. Do you have specific “sure fire” steps that insure your success?

Knowledge Is Useless!

Knowledge Is Useless!
Knowledge is useless. Hmmm. That’s a new concept. Or is it? Maybe it’s just a concept you haven’t heard before. How
can knowledge ever be useless?
Knowledge is useless when you don’t apply the information that you have towards anything useful. Why would someone go through the process of gaining knowledge then not use it?
Behind it all too often is fear. Fear? But fear of what? A fear of failure, or even (as strange as it sounds) a fear of success. Fear of failure can be painfully obvious to most of us. The shame, the ridicule, the loss, etc.
But fear of success? Does the fear of success scare you so much that it freezes you into inaction? Is that possible? Could there be a negative side to success? Well success or the road to success usually requires a significant amount work.
Also, once you get there, it still requires significant effort to maintain your success. Many times people have trouble creating success, and are held back by self-imposed limitations. Often these limitations are more unconscious than conscious.
I can relate to this because I have been in the same situation. I was a great starter but not so much a finisher. I had to constantly tell myself to stop going from one thing to another, finish what you are doing. I have great ambition, motivation and optimism but I was afraid to follow through. I had unquestionably placed limits on what I was capable of and what was possible. My confidence level was shaky. If I did take a risk I often would unknowingly sabotage the success. Who can keep motivated when they are afraid of the outcome? The fear of the unknown! I would convince myself that I didn’t really want the benefits of this success.
Even in blogging, sometimes it is difficult to maintain confidence. I often get motivated and at the same time get discouraged when I visit popular successful blogs.
But I decided to focus on a can do attitude – “Yes – I can do it!”. Writing this post with my killer title – “Knowledge is Useless” is an action I committed to do when I read about the challenge on ProBlogger – “Killer Titles – Group Writing Project”. Then I decided I needed to live by a different attitude. “What’s the worst that can happen?”
As I looked back over my life I decided things had to change. I needed to step out of my comfort zone. Was it really my comfort zone anyway? I always wanted more, something was always missing so where is the comfort zone.
I took stock in my characteristics and my confidence in my abilities grew. I gained a new clarity about me and what I wanted to do. I often told myself – Yes I can or Why not me? Other people seem to manage. Somehow, I was able to take action when opportunities appeared, something that had always been difficult for me. I began to see opportunities and opportunities began to see me. I developed a sense that helped me make smarter decisions regarding what path to take in a given situation, and I gradually began to shift my life from one of aimlessness to one of focused purpose. As this happened, my fears diminished and my ability to know what I wanted, and take steps to get it, increased. More importantly, my sense of having a purpose and of having a place in the world began to develop, which dramatically changed the way I felt about my life, and dramatically increased my confidence.
In other words, I stopped sabotaging myself, and you can do it, too. Your ability to consciously see exactly how you are creating your results allows you to begin to consciously choose (and create)
the very results you want. Where it may have seemed before that a lot of things in your life “just happened,” and not necessarily the things you wanted to happen, you now begin to consciously choose and create what you do want to happen. You become more focused and see or create more opportunity for yourself.
Opportunity finds you – actually comes knocking at your door. There are no magic bullets for success. In every case, a person must have a focused goal and be willing to move toward it. With confidence, the fears and limitations that stand in your way begin to fade, and the balance and clarity (and self-awareness) you need begin to develop.
Since increased confidence and motivation are important, I urge you to build it, create it and it will surely lead you in the right direction. Knowledge is power. We’ve all heard that quote. But if we stop to think about it, is it really true? Does simply knowing a thing make you more powerful? I say that it takes more than just knowledge to become powerful; knowledge creates your awareness of your opportunities to create power. It depends what you know, but yes, on the whole, knowing something is only the beginning and means nothing without action.
What do you do with your knowledge? Do you know more than you do?
