“2 Elements of Every Post”

linksWhat is one of the most important elements every post should contain?

Links:

Every post you write should have a link to one of your past posts.  In some circumstances you just have to toot your own horn!  The linked post should obviously related and pertinent to the topic discussion.

It gives you the opportunity to share some hidden posts that are still of interest and current.

If you follow this hint and tip you will be well on your way to increasing your blog traffic. Not only will you link to one of your posts but if you have added links to that post you will now be looking at sharing lots of your own posts with your readers.

What is the other most important element every post should contain?

Links:

Every post should contain a link to another blog, site, article, etc.  For a couple of reasons:

  1. You are sharing your awesome discoveries with your readers.  Your readers usually appreciate that.  Most people like sharing!
  2. Linking to other blogs or articles may get you noticed or at least appreciated.

I have been told, linking to other blogs or sites that have a high page rank helps with your own page rank.  Dan Scocco of DailyBlogTips wrote on post earlier this month on a google page rank update .

I enjoy linking to my past posts, rereading them and digging them out of the archives.  I also like sharing great finds I discover in the blogosphere.  So fellow bkoggers, get out there and share your stuff, share your finds.

Beach Season Is Coming

April 28, 2009 by BloggerNewbie

Soon we will be shopping for that perfect bathing suit to show off at the beach.

Some of us will be shopping for weight loss pills before we even think about getting into a bathing suit. I am not good at dieting. I have a little will power it just doesn’t last very long! I am not looking for a miracle pill, just a little assistance.

Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend

April 28, 2009 by BloggerNewbie

That’s what they say. The best diamonds come in diamond engagement rings because of the meaning. I have a few diamond rings but none are as special as my wedding set. It has a great deal of sentimental value to me as do most women’s wedding sets. At least while you are married! Choosing an engagement ring can be a long process but luckily in this day and age we have the internet for assistance!

How Do You Lose Your Excess Pounds?

April 28, 2009 by BloggerNewbie

Most people struggle with trying to lose a few extra pounds. I even heard on the news today that there is such a procedure as brain surgery to lose weight! Who would do such a thing?

I have a diet secret that I will be sharing with you today.

If you eat less and exercise more, you will lose weight.

Some people simply need an appetite suppressant to help them with eating a little less. I am not quite sure what I think about outside help with dieting but to each his own!

I Need a Vacation!

April 12, 2009 by BloggerNewbie

outer-banks-vacationAt this time of year, after a long winter, we probably all need a vacation. Does everyone dream of the ocean, beaches, sun and fun? Wouldn’t you enjoy a vacation in the Outer Banks?

The south is a great place to visit in April or any other month for that matter. It depends on your heat factor desire. In New York in April the weather spans from one extreme to another. We are sun deprived and a southern vacation is just the answer!

Spring Renovations

April 12, 2009 by BloggerNewbie

spring-cleaningIt’s time for Spring! Time for spring cleaning and renovations. Well it is supposed to be. It is still a little chilly in northern New York!

I am thinking of renovating flooring in the kitchen and living room. I am looking at a hardwood floor for the living room. My daughters think I should also check out area rugs for the center of the room. I am leaning towards that suggestion as well. They are very attractive and will keep my feet warm!

Check it out.

He That Is Good For Making Excuses..

April 6, 2009 by BloggerNewbie

“Monday Motivation!”

“He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.”
~ Benjamin Franklin

Confession: I “stole” this quote from Happiness is better from one of  his “tweets”.

Have you ever noticed that there comes a time in your life when you turn into your parents?  You don’t see it coming.  In fact, you spend half of your young adult life trying to be completely different, the opposite.  Somehow it happens.  You don’t even see it coming.  You are in a  discussion and suddenly the conversation turns to those other people.  The “other” generation that is always messing things up.  You know the conversation (you’ve heard it before) starts out -  “when I was a kid”.  Kind of like “the good ole’ days”.

We reap what we sow

For the most part, the current generation is molded and sculpted by the immediate past generation.  The generation that is always complaining about the current generation.  In other words, we reap what we sow.  I remember being told that we had to be careful how we raised our children.  Everything we did or said would affect the outcome of this little persons life.  I was afraid to speak to my child.  What if I said the wrong thing?  What if they thought badly of themselves. Their whole life would be ruined!

We couldn’t scold them because we would squash their self esteem.  Competition wasn’t really that popular because there was always a winner and a loser and we wanted everyone to be a winner.  Yeah, don’t we all?  Welcome to reality.

Then there was the “encouragement” talk.  When something went wrong or didn’t go their way, it wasn’t their fault.  If it was their fault, they would feel bad and have low self esteem so it always had to be someone or something else to blame.

It’s time to be accountable

In any event, regardless of who is responsible for the molding and sculpting, there comes a time in every individuals life that personal responsibility becomes important.  Eventually, (hopefully) you will be accountable for your actions or inactions.  Most people want to be accountable for their success right?  Well the good comes with the bad, it’s that whole equal and opposite action and reaction theory thing going on.  You can’t have one without the other.  Either you are or you aren’t.

Some people spend more time and energy figuring out who or what to blame when things go wrong then time or energy figuring out how to correct or change something.   For the most part, what difference does it make?  Yeah, you need to evaluate what went wrong, take note and change direction.  The important part here is to “change” not complain.   I have always thought that if people spent as much time and energy on fixing or changing things as they did on making excuses they wouldn’t have time to notice the “poor me” attitude.  Please, just do something.

It just drives me crazy when people spend good time on nonsense. At the end of the day, is it really important who, what, when or why? Or is it really important that something was accomplished or successful or you even moved forward!

Walk In My Shoes

April 4, 2009 by BloggerNewbie

Do you know how they say it’s the the clothes that makes the man? What about the footwear?

Do you think the brand is important? Have you tried the Dansko professional footwear line?

It is definitely true what they say – “you get what you pay for”. Where else can you get comfort and style at the same time. How many times have you had a pair of shoes that were absolutely gorgeous yet you couldn’t wear them for more than an hour!

Maybe it’s time to look at the professionals.

What Do You Prefer?

April 2, 2009 by BloggerNewbie

There is an ongoing controversy in the jewelry world – white gold or yellow gold. Some say yellow gold is more traditional. Others say white gold is more modern.

Which do you prefer?

I would say it depends on the piece of jewelry. I prefer white gold rings yet I usually wear gold earrings. I guess it would also depend on what type of stone, if any, you have in the jewelry.

What do you think? What do you prefer?

Is It Time?

April 2, 2009 by BloggerNewbie

las-vegasIs it time? Is it time to get away. It has been a long stressful winter. I don’t know about you but by this time of year, my patience is getting thin. April in New York is still volatile in the weather department so I really need to leave the area.

What about going west young man? I have dreamed of Vegas vacations for as long as I can remember. I don’t know if I can trust myself there for many reasons.

But, isn’t it time?
