“Question of the Week? Vote in our Poll!”
To tweak or not to tweak - that is the question. Do you tweak your blog? Are you technically talented or technically challenged?
I like to tweak my blog almost on a continuous basis. Those of you that have followed BloggerNewbie for any length of time can attest that I am always changing my theme. And yes, I am working on changing to yet another them.
I set up a test blog so I can tweak the changes before going live.
I can’t decide if I believe that change keeps your blog fresh, new and interesting or that keeping the same theme helps build a brand.
What do you think? What do you prefer?

I’m Getting Spring Fever
February 23, 2009 by BloggerNewbie
The weather is getting a little nicer. Slow but sure. After being cooped up for the long winter’s rest I am good and ready for spring.
With spring, for me, comes spring cleaning, renovations, clean up and repair. I really look forward to it.
I am in the the planning stages of all that I want to do. I need to prioritize all my projects.
First, what do I want to do? Second, which one will I do first. Third, I plan for the purchases and supplies I will need.
For one of my projects, I am thinking about renovating the kitchen. More like repair really. I need to fix a few things. I am in the market for discount kitchen faucets to fix my annoying drip. I want good quality at a good price. Don’t we all?
I am sure we will be looking at a few more repair jobs. When do you do your planning?

Still Working On It?
February 23, 2009 by BloggerNewbie
It’s almost March. Are you still working on your New Year’s resolution?
I am. I usually go overboard and try to overhaul my whole self!
We all know the top resolutions:
Finances
Quit smoking
Weight loss
Finances: I always try to re-arrange my budget, save more money and pay off some bills.
Quit smoking: Yeah, the number one new year’s resolution. Been there, done that. One year clean actually, but still sort of working at it. I have to talk my self through some stressful situations sometimes.
Weight loss: Always. I think most people can afford to lose at least 10 lbs. Some people are always looking for the best diet pill to help them lose weight. Always research the safety and effectiveness of any drug.
Are you still working on it?

Is It Still Happening?
February 23, 2009 by BloggerNewbie
Is It still Happening? Are people still suffering from asbestos exposure?
I am not really sure about the details of the asbestos exposure fiasco. Did the business owners know there was asbestos in their buildings? Did they know it was harmful?
I have seen a ton of advertising about hiring a Mesothelioma lawyer. Apparently these attorney’s specialize in this type of litigation. Be sure to research your options. This is serious business and your life depends on it.

Get Paid To Blog
February 23, 2009 by BloggerNewbie
There is some controversy around the blogosphere about paid reviews.
There are probably as many pros as there are cons to writing paid reviews.
Personally, I think it is a matter of choice. I also think that the post is as true as the blogger is and it’s simple as that. If you trust the blogger and the blogger has some sort of experience with the review then why wouldn’t they get paid to blog?
Some bloggers say:
no way,
some say yes, but…
yet, still some say absolutely-whatever you want.
There are also just as many websites offering writing jobs to bloggers. They all have their own set of rules so read them carefully. Some pay more or more frequently with and without minimums. Read the fine print. Some are too complicated or just don’t provide enough opportunities to write.
I just signed up to write some posts at PayingPost. Paying Post’s Blog has a great deal of information and resources. I like the theme layout as well. Nice, crisp and clean. The blog has information for writers as well as for advertisers. The blogger who registers with Paying Post is listed within the blogroll on their blog. I researched Paying Post and didn’t find any negative reviews. So far so good!
Good for bloggers:
Writing paid reviews is a great way to also increase your Search Engine Optimization. The more you write the more the search engines crawl your site. We all know more exposure equals more money.
Good for advertisers:
What’s not to like? Getting a good, honest review of your product or service is priceless. That is how money is made – discussing your product among consumers. There are millions of blogs throughout the blogosphere and untold millions who read blogs. Blogs are good exposure for advertisers.
I think I am going to like writing for Paying Post. Everything seems to be very professional and I like that. I also like to write and I like to talk so we should get along just fine!
Stay tuned for some great reviews!

We Cannot Live Only For Ourselves
February 23, 2009 by BloggerNewbie
“Monday Motivation!”
“We cannot live only for ourselves.
A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men…”~ Herman Melville
I was going to say that it would be impossible for someone to live only for themselves. To live without any interaction with anyone. But we all know that it is possible and that it has happened.
I believe (in my world) that we cannot live only for ourselves. The other quote that “It takes a whole village to raise a child” is very true. My family has learned that first hand. Being part of a community is too wonderful in too many ways.
When you are developing a new community you do not have the intention or the mindset of “what’s in it for me”. Not usually anyway. Generally, you are looking for a connection, a way to fit in. Most often you are also looking to give back, to contribute and help with your talents.
We cannot live only for ourselves. When they say – it’s a small world – they are not kidding. What part of today did not involve someone else even in the very smallest way. You probably can not think of a time or incident when you were not doing something for someone or someone was not doing something for you.
Would you have it any other way?

Isn’t it time for Wine?
February 22, 2009 by BloggerNewbie
It’s been a long day, you come in the door from work, you just need five minutes. It’s my favorite time of day. I take five minutes for myself when I get home from work. I very often have a nice glass of wine, maybe a little cheese, maybe some grapes. It is so relaxing.
My kids are always asking me what they can buy me when there is an occasion that calls for a gift. I can never think of anything because if and when I want something, I just go buy it.
I know have an idea. They can buy me a subscription to a wine of the month club. That will take care of all the gift giving occasions for the year! It would be something I enjoy, something I use and something that would really be a new gift every month!
How great is that idea?

Mac Memory
February 22, 2009 by BloggerNewbie
I found a great deal! I don’t have a Mac but my boss does and she had me looking for deals on upgrading her Mac memory so I went surfing. Back in the day memory was a luxury upgrade. Not any more. What great deals I found. I couldn’t believe it. Apparently, I haven’t shopped for upgrades in a while. Even if you hadn’t given it a thought to upgrade, at these prices, who wouldn’t? Go shopping!

Are Pre-Teens Too Young For Netbooks
February 21, 2009 by BloggerNewbie
Have you heard of the new netbooks? They are used mostly for internet surfing, instant messaging and email. Like that’s any different from a laptop or any other computer! The only difference I have noticed is the price. They are a little over $300.00. I wondered if that was too much for a pre-teen?
From what I can see, the netbook is no differenct from a laptop so are pre-teens too young for a laptop or netbook? Sometimes I get concerned about giving pre-teens too much too soon. I mean what are you going to get them when they are older if you are getting them computers when they are 10?
What do you think? Too much too soon?

I Have the Answer to the Financial Crisis
February 20, 2009 by BloggerNewbie
We all know the United States is in a financial crisis. You can’t pick up a newspaper, watch a television program or even search the internet without every other news piece screaming about the impending collapse of our financial system. Somewhat makes me wonder how much of this “news” is propaganda.
All I can say is I am getting totally annoyed with the whole conversation. Everyone is looking around pointing fingers at the next guy. Some are even asking “how could this have happened? It’s so blatantly obvious it’s irritating. Frankly, it is all getting a little old!
How about personal responsibility?
“You and you alone are responsible for who you are and what you do.” ~ Author Unknown
We all have choices and from those choices we get either rewards or consequences. Simple as that. Your failure to plan or your poor financial decisions are only your responsibility. The government is not obligated to bail you out!
What will happen to the US economy if the auto makers fail? Nothing. Something or someone else will take their place. Just like any other business failure in the history of the US.
I live in a small rural area. Plenty of businesses have come and gone. Our town has struggled with our economy for as long as I can remember and as long as our parent’s generation can remember. None of us can remember the government coming around to bail us out.
I am not happy to be the one to tell everyone but we are suffering from our own self-inflicted woes. I am just as guilty as the next poor slob. Yeah, I am a victim too. I have had to tighten my budget because of the options I chose. I decided to buy a John Deere tractor and for that decision I am not able to splurge on a vacation this year.
No, I am not a victim. I am by no means here to boo hoo to anyone. I am just explaining my choice and the outcome. I am not sorry about my choice. That is exactly what it is - a choice. I decided I could only have one and I wanted the tractor. Personal responsibility. Hmmm, sounds like a new fad.
If you are not overjoyed with the position you are in at this point then do something about it. Stop blaming others, stop envying others, take some personal responsibility.
You remember Newton – For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Good, bad – happy, sad – cold, hot - you get the idea.
At the end of the day, you stand alone with your choice. Isn’t freedom of choice great?
