“Monday Motivation!”
“Courage is grace under pressure…”
~ Ernest Hemingway
I had heard this quote before but had never really given it much thought.
It was not until I actually witnessed courage and grace first hand that I knew what courage really was.
I can honestly say that I didn’t have a clue what courage really was. One can never realize what they are capable until until they are put under fire.
My middle daughter, Danielle, has always been a girly girl. When she was growing up, that was her personality.
~ She didn’t like to get dirty
~ She would run like a girl
~ She made sure her hair was perfect while she was playing basketball
Nothing wrong with being a girly girl. I, myself, have girly girl moments. Not very often as I don’t have that many opportunities.
My definition of being a girly girl also encompasses being a little whiny, a little fragile, a little dependent. You know, the kind of person that doesn’t like to even go shopping by herself. The kind of “girl” that conveniently doesn’t know how to do the things she doesn’t want to do.
All of that is a memory of someone else. Not my Danielle. She is no girly girl.
Humans! They are amazing.
It is fascinating to me the strength and courage that people have under the most adverse situations.
I Don”t Know Where To Begin. I can only say that any and every parent’s worst nightmare happened to Danielle. Her baby, 10 months old at the time, had become seriously ill.
The courage and grace with which Danielle exhibited during this ordeal is beyond words. For a young mom who had never experienced any real difficulties, she somehow found what she needed to keep everything together. She was luckier than some, she didn’t have to do it alone. She has a great husband and a devoted extended family.
She definitely has courage.
Do you know of people who have impressed you or even surprised you with their hidden courage?

Aww thanks mom. that is so sweet. I do know almost all my courage came from just what you said.. my husband and family
Thank You
Danielle:
Welcome back to the working world. Probably feels good to go back to work so you can rest! You are very welcome.
It is pretty amazing to consider what each of us has inside. There are qualities that may never surface until a specific situation and then we realize that we have what it takes.
I can’t even image what she went though, and I pray I never will.

People are amazing aren’t they? hmmph – humans!
I pray no-one ever has to know either. She is an amazing young lady and today, Drake is a one-man wrecking machine. We don’t know the long term affects at this point, but for now, we are thoroughly enjoying the terrible two’s!
It’s not until we’re thrown into highly stressful situations that we can really know how we will react. Courage, therefore, is a remarkable trait exhibited by some in the face of adversity. Danielle, your story, strength and courage is truly remarkable. As a parent, I had tears in my eyes when I read your story. God bless.

So obviously i know the whole story…but you weren’t very explainable in your story! What made you decide to write about that? I really like it. You should be proud! Of your writing and your daughter!!!

Ross:
Thank you for your kind words. Some people like to say “I would do this or I would do that” but like you said, you never truly know until you are there.
Courtney:
My story was to explain how courage is shown under fire and the detail is in the link “I Don’t Know Where To Begin”. I gather quotes throughout the week and pick one to use for “Monday Motivation”. I’m not sure if this post turned out to be motivating? Thank you for your sweet words.
Holly:
Hellllo! I am so glad you stopped by and commented. Thank you for your sweet words. Danielle has turned into an amazing woman hasn’t she. Totally stronger than I ever thought she would be! She’s even brave enough to go to a dentist! he he…come again.

My mom is the same way. Sometimes I don’t know how she gathers up all she does to face some of the issues thrown at her – I’m thinking raising 8 kids by herself was probably her practice.
We should start a business making WWMD (What Would Mama Do) bracelets and such!
Thank You Everybody for your thoughtful words! It is people just like you that i got my courage from. We had everyone from my entire family, to friends and even strangers in the community, that came together to help us out. I was not alone at ANY time to handle this by myself. From taking weeks of UNPAID time off work to be there at the hospital with me to making sure my daughter was dressed to my expectations for school, whatever needed to be done. Was done! That’s what kept me going. Everyone else keeping me sane and taking over most of my responsibilities. When it comes down to a situation like this.. you do what you have to do to handle the situation. Especially when it comes to your children (as most of us parents know.) I thank you all again for your kind words..
Family and Friends are the best medicine!
