“Yes, It IS All About Me!”

its-all-about-me

I just love to talk about myself. Yeah, me, me, me.  This might be a long post.

Ross from Will it change you “tagged” me with a task to divulge six secret random things about myself.  This might be for mature audiences only.  No, just kidding.

I’m not sure where this idea originated from so if you do, please leave the credit in the comments section.  Well you asked for it, well someone did, so here goes.

  1. The girl in me (that was probably not politically correct).  I am a Wife, Mommy, Auntie, Daughter, Sister and Granny.  Granny is the best job ever.  People tell you how wonderful it is going to be and you think, yeah it will probably be fun.  You can’t appreciate a granny story unless you are a granny.  Unless you are a grandparent, your eyes will glaze over as soon as I say “you can’t believe the cute story I have about my grandbaby”.   But just like most life lessons, you really never know until you experience it yourself.
  2. They call me…Jane Deere. You know it!  I love my John Deere utility tractor.  It is a mower, with a bucket, some forks, a back blade.  Oh yeah.   I do the majority of the mowing as my husband works crazy hours in the summer.  We have a couple of acres to mow so my 54” deck is real nice.  I have all the Jane Deere apparel.  And they are right, nothing runs like a deere.
  3. Dudette – where’s my Harley? Yeah, where is it?  Okay, it’s not a Harley.  Actually, I do have a motorcyle but mine is a Rebel.   (he he he.)  Rebel – who me?   I just started riding a couple of years ago.  My midlife crisis adventure.  Better than an affair or divorce! My husband has a Yamaha. We have added all kinds of upgrades to our Yamaha. We have as much money into the accessories as we do in the bike. I have a method to this madness. When hubby gets a bigger bike, I get the Yamaha with it’s cool pipes and all.
  4. Entrepreneur a/k/a Self-Made Millionaire! Okay, I am not a millionaire by any stretch of the imagination, but an entrepreneur for sure!  I have been self employed for most of my life.   A few years ago, (during a grief stricken period of my life) I sold my business.  Ouch.  I am now working for someone else.  Ouch again.  What a tough pill to swallow.  In any event, I will be a self-employed blogger in the very near future.
  5. I’m a hard worker, not always a smart worker, but always a hard worker. I am not afraid to get dirty.  Too often, I have been caught taking the long way around.  To me, it doesn’t matter how it gets done as long as it gets done.  Don’t get me wrong, I prefer the shorter, easier way but if it has to take me a hour to do a five minute job, well so be it.  “At the end of the day” the job will be done.
  6. I am a positive thinker. I try to see the good side of everything.  Even in traumas and dramas.  Most people don’t want to hear my “it could be worse” scenario.  But it almost always could be worse.  Or even when what you have is unbearable, truly someone else has it worse.  I could tell you stories that would make your hair curl.
  7. I am as honest and loyal as the day is long. I am devoted to my husband.  We are committed to each other and to each other’s dreams and aspirations.  I have never felt such undying love and support from another person.  I know, sounds all corny and everything but I don’t care how it sounds.  My husband and I have a dream.  We actually share the dream.  It’s not more his than mine or more mine than his.  We want to build a log home. Yeah, we know, we have simple dreams. Did I mention we want to do this without the baggage of a mortgage? We are clearing and preparing a lot and have been working  on it for a couple of years.  Beware, more corny coming up.  This property is completely “heaven on earth”.  I finally know what it means when people say life is what you make it.  I can’t explain it, but I don’t feel more safe or happy or at peace, I guess then when I am digging or raking or pulling stumps.  I know.  People just can’t understand.  I am tired of trying to explain it to some people.  Yes, I really would rather buy an implement for my John Deere than go on vacation or buy new clothes or anything else.

My husband had me throw that last one in.  I told him the rule was six not seven.   I am sure some of this is too much information and it was more fun than I anticipated.  So my next part is to tag six people.  The rules are as follows:

THE RULES:

1. LINK TO THE PERSON WHO TAGGED YOU
2. POST THE RULES ON YOUR BLOG
3. WRITE SIX RANDOM THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF
4. TAG SIX PEOPLE AT THE END OF YOUR POST AND LINK TO THEM
5. LET EACH PERSON KNOW THEY ARE TAGGED AND LEAVE A COMMENT ON THEIR BLOG
6. LET THE TAGGER KNOW WHEN YOUR ENTRY IS UP
7. DON’T BREAK THE CHAIN (not actually a rule)

Ok, so here’s who I’ve picked.   My apologies if any of them have already been tagged.  You have to be fast in this blogosphere.  No rest for the wicked!

Hi Dee, Thanks fo rthe Tag, Great Idea, I love it :)
When are you going full time with the blogging? I thought you were already full time, how do you manage to post so much and still have a life? :)

  3. Hi Ross:

Thanks for the tag, it was more fun than I thought it was going to be. Sometimes it’s hard for me to be as nice to myself as I am to others so I don’t like to “brag” about myself. As much as I love that tractor, snowplowing is one of those chores I don’t go anywhere near. I don’t like cold. yeah, and winter is here 6 months out of the year!

    Ciara:

Great, I can’t wait to read your post. I would like to go full time with blogging by the end of next year. All depends of course. Ha, ha, I don’t have kids at home anymore so I have more free time to write.

  4. Natural says:

that was a fun read, i do enjoy reading and learning more about a blogger. talking about yourself, your goals or accomplishments is not bragging either.

i forgot where i read the quote, so i’ll probably get it wrong:

    it’s not bragging, but truth

  5. Natural:

Thanks, it was kind of fun to write too. I have always been a little uncomfortable complimenting myself. Well, accepting compliments for that matter. Thanks.

  6. Danielle says:

Very nice post.. Every bit is 100% you. The lovely granny/mommie/auntie/daughter/wife.. is 100% you

  7. Danielle:

    :)

Thank you. You are so sweet.

  8. For some reason none of this surprises me :-) And I don’t think you told too much.

What if you had to choose between the motorcycle and the John Deere?

    I’ve been tagged, eh?

Ok then. I’ll get to work.

Great post, BTW. Very candid and real responses. Not much in the way of surprises, though!

  11. Kim,

Funny you should ask! We didn’t get on the bikes much this year because we just bought the John Deere. So that answers that!

    George,

What’s up with the “no surprises” comments! That is funny. Must be I write in my true voice! Glad to know.

    Shri,

Thank you. Riding is a lot of fun. I still need a little more confidence before I get on the big bike! I would rather not be the first one to put a mark on the newer bike. (my husband cries like a girl when it gets dirty so…) Mine is older and useful to learn on.

More people would be happier if they truly stopped to smell the roses, wouldn’t they?

  12. Carla says:

I loved reading this (and other Tagged posts). Ross tagged me and I will publish mine around after Chirstmas. I’m trying to figure out who to tag that hasnt been tagged already…

  13. Carla:

I KNOW. I was working on my post earlier this week and someone I had planned to tag was tagged by someone else! It is fun to read about the “real” blogger. Can’t wait to read yours!

  14. Ben says:

Hi Dee! Very new stranger here thinks this makes wonderful reading, thanks for posting. The world would do great with many more of your kind. And with 5, 6 and especially 7 that dude is blessed to have you.

    Keeping being Dee.

    Ben

  15. Ben,

Thank you for your kind words. One of the many great characteristics of my husband is that he actually tells me he is blessed which makes me the one blessed!

This was somewhat fun yet difficult to write. More than I expected and it received more response than I thought. You just never know with writing. That is the best part of writing.

    Please, come again.
