Pop ups?

Pop ups? What do you think? Obtrusive and annoying or helpful and interesting?
We all have our opinion. Mine? I totally find them annoying.
At the same time, some of the big boys use them? What is that all about? I admire the big boys. I follow them. I watch their every move. At the risk of actually BEING them, I try to implement some of their techniques on my own blog. But, pop ups? I just can’t. They are soo irritating!
But. If the big boys are doing it, then it must work? I don’t know. Even if it does work, do I want to use pop ups on my blog? I just can’t. Just because it works doesn’t make it right or good. Nope, don’t like them.
I run and operate my blog like my brick and mortar business. I run it as if I am a customer. So if I don’t like it I don’t use it. Might be right, might be wrong. In any event, that is the way I work.
So what do you think? Pop ups? Sure, why not? or Absolutely not!

NO pop ups. I dont think I ever clicked on one before. They are totally annoying and I have a hard time taking websites that have them seriously.

ME either. The part I don’t get is that some of the big boys do use them. Well some of the big boys do have spammy looking sites anyway. If that is the way to be successful or make money then I guess I will just be rich and famous in my own mind! Since we are on the subject I find really flashy ads also very annoying. A little movement is actually nice, gets my attention, but flashing and blinking and moving all over the place. please leave it for the video games. Do the flashy ads bother you?
I can’t stand the pop-ups. I’m like if I have to click this out of the way every time I want to read your articles, I’m just not going to bother anymore. Maybe it works with non-blogging crowd – it must work with someone.
I don’t care for flashy ads either – they distract me out of the corner of my eye.

I think I can guess the outcome of this poll! I wonder if they people that use pop-ups actually like them themselves? That would be an interesting discussion.

They irritate me (as a blogger and a non-blogger) and I wouldn’t revisit a site that has them (unless I forget). None of the websites (even the big ones) I regularly visit have pop-ups so am surprised to hear that some of the big boys use them. I take it as an infringement of my freedom and privacy .. if I want to click on an ad. or another page then I will and I don’t like it when someone else decides for me what I need to see on my screen – I’m big enough to decide for myself. For the same reason, I refuse to watch TV .. commercials have the same effect. Rant over. Ian

Got you thinking didn’t I?! Well more like ranting.
That’s exactly my sentiment when a stupid pop up annoys me. Oh the the other kind that gives you an “are you sure” window before you try to leave?? ANNOYING.

I forgot to mention the fact that I spend approximately 35 minutes a week watching tv. That would be 5 minutes every nite before I fall asleep!
Commercials and News? Do they hear themselves speak? I told my husband if we wait long enough bacon will be good for us someday, and that day came!
pop ups are annoying. i hate them. spam is the new black. pop ups are old.

YES they are. I think I run into at least one popup a day. Maybe that’s not a lot, but enough.
Thank goodness for spam blocker. I would spend half my time chasing down spam. YES again, very annoying.
Pop-ups are not nice. They make me break out in hives and send me into fits of paranoia.
