I can see the progression of gaining traffic (for me) in progress. You can’t just start commenting somewhere or sign up for social media and expect a flood of traffic. It all goes back to time, patience and hard work. There are so many ways to promote your blog that sometimes too much information is paralyzing. Especially, newbies, they don’t know which way to turn. Eventually it all comes together like anything else, through experience and trial and error.

I’d say commenting works in the beginning, social media helps along the way, and great writing helps all the time. The more popular your blog gets the harder it is to manage it and commenting on a ton of other blogs. So commenting isn’t the best for traffic once you get more popular.

I think guest posts and other collaborative efforts are the best thing you can do to increase traffic and subscribers to your blog.
