“Life Happens”

All around you – life happens.

All around you people are going about their business.  They go to the post office, stop and get their groceries, run their errands, visit with their friends they meet on the street.

All the while your life has just crashed down around you.  How can this be?  Don’t they know?  Some inconsiderate driver just cut you off.  How could they do that when you are in so much pain? What is wrong with people!

The world has stopped, but only for you.  Isn’t it surreal?  It feels like you are in the twilight zone. (I watch too much Sci-Fi.)  Everything is running in slow motion.  Except your mind.  Your mind is running 100 mph.  What are you going to do?  How are you going to deal with this?  You close your eyes for a second to try to calm down.

Nope, everything is still in motion.  In the midst of all this turmoil, there is a lesson to be learned.  Yeah, there usually is.

Treat people like they are going through a trauma..treat every stranger like they are in the middle of a crisis.

Is it so hard to be courteous?  Are we so caught up in ourselves that we think “it’s all about me”.  The great thing about making other people feel good is that it makes you feel good.  Be aware of your actions, if only for today, try it.

    I agree with you on this post.. i usually always do.. but the beginning paragraph brings back so many bad memories. yuck

  2. @ Danielle – More than one, I know. I don’t know what made me think of this post. I probably ran into some rude dude and it made me think that some people think the world revolves around them and everyone should just part the ways when they see them coming. You know how I can turn every conversation or incident into a post!

    Hi Dee,

    Yeah I think it’s an unfortunate fat that common courtesy is pretty much uncommon these days.

    As much as possible I try and stay in a good place and when I’m able to do that, people seem to react to me a little differently.

    Cheers

    just like the media, only the crap gets any attention. It’s too bad that good can’t be just as viral. I know there have been plenty of campaigns to spread good deeds, they just don’t seem to take off. Maybe people would spread good if they were competing for a prize?

    I find myself saying the title of your post almost every single day, LIFE HAPPENS. You are right, no one else cares what other people are going through. As long as it doesn’t affect them in some way, they will go on with their own life as usual. I’ve realized that some of my own actions affect others, whether it’s my mood or something I have said. After a few life-altering events in my families life, I try to always remember that someone else could be going through the same thing I am or something much worse. As your title states, “Life happens” and there is nothing anyone can do about it. I’ll leave you with this quote;

    “The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once.”
    - Albert Einstein

  6. @ Darcy – I hope people stop today and take a minute to think first then act.

    I like your quote, that Einstein was a character!
