“The Addiction of Blogging”

I get post ideas from the most unusual places.  I can turn almost every conversation into a post.  My family and friends are talking about organizing an intervention.  I’m thinking if I’m not able to sit through a meal without mentioning blogging or posting I might not get invited to the next night out!  I try to explain that blogging is about life and about our community. Blogging is addictive, I might need help.

When I am visiting and commenting on other blogs, I often get ideas for a spin off of the topic they are currently discussing.  Especially if I have a differing opinion on the subject.  Or sometimes I have such an opinion that I don’t want to turn my comment on their blog into my own post.  That, my friend and fellow blogger, is where you get the link back from!

Frequently, bloggers express that they have a difficult time adding a link from another blog back to their post and making it flow with their topic.  If you have opposite views or even additional views on the same topic, it is a great way to add to your post and acknowledge another great blogger!

I get ideas from graphics!  When I search for graphics or photos for the post I want to publish, almost always I find some other graphic or photo that probably has nothing to do with nothing that I am searching for.  It gives me an idea for another post!

My family lists some of my symptoms:

  • Everywhere I look, everything I read turns into a blog idea.  Isn’t that a good thing? I don’t think that’s a symptom of addiction, that’s a symptom of an 24/7 entrepreneur!
  • Okay, so I have a blogging t-shirt. That doesn’t prove anything – I have alot of t-shirts. The vinyl stick-ons that I put on our vehicles are advertisements.
  • I go to the computer the very first thing in the morning.  They are exaggerating! I get coffee first.
  • Blogging is the last thing I do before turning in for the night.  Or I am always saying, “hang on, 5 more minutes”.  They are grasping at straws here.  That is simply not true.  I have a few other things I do after blogging and before turning in.  And “5 more minutes?”  I don’t think any task in blogging only takes 5 minutes.

Are you addicted to blogging?

lol – It is very addicting! Checking comments, seeing the number of views go up… and yes, everything turns into a great topic for blogging about! Glad to hear that someone else has the same addiction ;)

  2. @ Rachel

My blog is revolting against me! This post wasn’t ready to publish last nite. I am having problems with my schedule post feature, now it is posting whenever it wants! That’s crazy!

I will have to tell my intervention team that all is well, there are other people like me, they are called bloggers! It is too much fun.

Well I’m glad you came to talk to us today! I like the social aspect of blogging also. It can be so overwhelming though. That can be addicting!

Where have you been? I was wondering why you didn’t add your version of “truth” to this story! You are probably the ringleader of this intervention team :)
