“Monday Motivation!”

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss,
you’ll land among the stars.”
Les Brown
There is a lot of truth to that quote. If you “shoot for the moon” and your plan is not 100% successful and “you land among the stars” wouldn’t you still accomplish a great deal of your goal?
- You have a goal of adding 100 readers to your blog.
- You formulate a plan.
- Set up steps.
- Execute each step to the best of your ability.
- You finish with 80 additional readers.
Did you fail? Did you succeed? I think your accomplishment was very successful!
Maybe you should set your goal higher than you would actually like to achieve. If you want to achieve 100 readers, have your goal be 125. Make your goal achievable by setting a range instead of an arbitrary number. If you are able to complete your goal then you have more readers than you originally planned. If you don’t reach the goal but come close, then you have landed among the stars!

Hey there…
I always love it when people set their sights high and encourage others to do likewise… “Shoot for the moon!” – It’s a great reminder that we limit ourselves sometimes by how high we aim in our goals and beliefs… GO for it!

So encouraging isn’t it? I read a motivational piece about believing what you want as obtainable. Believing is half the process. I like the title to your last post. Kind of the opposite of this post. I’ll have to check out your view!
Yeah, I didn’t actually realise that the last post title of mine was “Why I’ve always hated goals” – looks really good when I’m commenting about aiming high with our goals, doesn’t it!….
The title is a bit misleading though, I’m really on your wavelength!

Good title though which is sometimes the only thing that gets people to your site. I have”lots” of blogs in my reader, I skim the titles and if it sounds interesting, i click through. That’s really food for thought!
I’ve set my goals 500% higher than what I’ll be happy with. And it’s helped me and my blog to achieve things in an extremely short amount of time.
You’ve got a great post here that I think many would benefit from putting to good use.

Thank you. I like to set goals high but not too high as I don’t wan’t to get discouraged. I need to see results to stay positive, although I have plenty of patience.
I’ve been shooting for the moon for many, many years. My main moon shot now is to earn enough income so I can build a $1.5 million house. Of course, my wife says she’s not cleaning it, but I hope to earn enough so she doesn’t have to worry about it. lol
@ Mitch
That is too funny, I suppose if you can afford a house worth $1.5 mil, you should be able to afford at least weekly help!
Sometimes the fear of failure keeps people from aiming for the moon but, what’s the worst that can happen? Your house will only be worth $1 mil? That would be too bad!
