“Everyone’s a Winner”
There are contests all over the blogosphere at any given time. Too many to count I am sure. They are great because “everyone’s a winner”. The host, the participant, the sponsor, etc.
The Host:
They are going to get visitors, possibly readers (hopefully) and most likely backlinks.
The visitors will come to check out the contest. They will have heard about the contest from other sites, social media or because they have occasionally visited the site in the past.
Becoming an RSS reader will most likely be a requirement of the contest. You will get points to increase your chances of winning by subscribing to the RSS.
Backlinks are also usually a requirement of the contest. The host will request that you write about the contest, link to their post about the contest and therefore gain backlinks. As many backlinks as participants.

The Participant:
Well, we are hoping to win! We also get some traffic from the backlinks and the comments. Hopefully we will find a great blog to become a loyal reader of. Some of the topics are thought provoking. It is interesting to read some of the posts on the same subject. Participants also have the opportunity to interact with some folks they wouldn’t have necessarily met up with.
The Sponsor:
More advertising, kudos for being generous, possibly new customers from the exposure. Sponsors will gain much more then they are giving away. They will also gain more traffic. Possibly repeat sales, new customers, different sales then the actual giveaway.
