Do You Have A Secret?

Yeah, “The Secret”. It’s all the buzz. I know the release was almost two years ago but it takes awhile for the real world to make its way to our little town. Sometimes that’s a good thing, sometimes not. By the time it gets to our little town, though I assume the whole world already knows about it. If you haven’t read or watched The Secret, you can get a copy here at Amazon.

I watched The Secret on DVD and I bought the audio book. I like “positive thinking” and “motivational” type reading and such. I was listening to the book one day and one of the authors was discussing asking for money. He said to pick an amount. Whatever you want. I was thinking;

“Okay, how about $10,000.00. That would be nice, then I thought, well by the time taxes are paid I wouldn’t be able to do what I wanted to do with $10,000.00 so I better ask for $25,000.00.”

This was my whole thought process while I was puttering around and listening to this book. Then the speaker goes on to say – “Pick say $25,000.00″. I stopped what I was doing for a minute and thought “whoa – I better pay closer attention here.” So I smiled and thought this book was going to be good.

With my new found $25,000.00 I am going to buy a little inexpensive convertible sports car. A red one of course.

The speaker started to talk about visualization. I’ve read tons about this and do believe in it, so I was paying close attention again and following what visualization he was discussing. He said to look at your hands, the detail – the fingers, the veins, the rings, the fingernails (I love my fingernails – I buy them – he he) the he goes on to say the FAKE FINGERNAILS. I am not kidding. I started to look around my room to kind of make sure I wasn’t on any hidden camera for some “believe it or not” show!

Now what does he want you to visualize? Those same hands wrapped around the steering wheel of your brand new car!

This book is going to be good. Have you read it or listened to it? What do you think of “The Secret”?

Do you have any stories of your own? I would love to discuss this book further.

I have another little story about “The Secret”. I will be continuing the book later tomorrow and I am sure we will have much to discuss.

Toodles – Blog Happy!

I read this book a couple of months ago! Its brilliant! I love the positive thinking it encoursges. My mother bought the book, DVD and diary and keeps a copy of a cheque out on the counter that she wants to win from the lottery! The book told her too:)
Good luck with your positive thinking!

I’ll get back to you later about the other topic, I’m in work at the moment;)

I have this on my Ipod I need to take the time to listen to it….

  4. I have watched the secret and really liked the points it was making. While I dont agree with it all, the overall concept is great!

  5. @ Danielle

Coincidence? maybe, or maybe the law of attraction!

    @ Webdesigner

I have the audio book and I have listened to it at least 10 times. It is very motivating.

    @ Debo Hobo

Take the time to listen to it. It has alot of good points!

    @ Tom

I completely agree. Most of the points are great, some are hard to wrap your mind around. I will just practice the theories I like!

The secret is a bunch of hogwash, I had to turn it off after 15 minutes of watching it. I couldn’t stomach the pseudo-science nonsense. And if this magical mumbo-jumbo worked, why the heck would you visualize money or material possesions instead of peace, understanding, scientific progress, cures for diseases, things that REALLY matter. A sports card – pfft.. shallow, lazy gits.

  7. @ ParadeRain

If you peel away all the hoopla, eliminate the nonsense – like you actually attract something like cancer because that is what you were thinking about – which of course my 10 month old grandson totally denies – there are a few positives in the book.

One of my perceptions is that when you continuously think about something, ie starting a new business – you are more apt to “notice” opportunities that you otherwise would miss with your blinders on!

I have another little story that relates to “The Secret”. Stop back tomorrow. You will at least be amused!

  8. Joe says:

The Law of Atraction is a Secret in the open. As you become more aware of life in general, and focus your eyes, not so much on you, but on others, and put their needs first, your life starts turning for the better. It is hard to concentrate on our own problems when we are helping others.

  9. When “they” say – like attracts like – that is true. If you are positive and kind you attract that like person and attitude, negative people like to seek out negative people – misery loves company..
