Blogging is STRESSFUL!
I am fairly new to blogging – a BloggerNewbie. Having said that, blogging is challenging with all the “must do’s” in our daily schedule. Then, of course as with any business, unexpected difficulties will arise that can throw you off your schedule.
Blogging has a list of daily tasks that are quite time consuming, and don’t forget – you actually have to blog! I don’t know if my expectations are too high in regards to time or if I am simply not organized or I am not using my time wisely.
I have a “to do” list that I try to follow every day.
I organize my links in Del.icio.us and put them in the numbered order that I need to take care of first. 1-E-Mail, 2-BloggerNewbie.com, 3-Favorite blogs, 4-Social Networks, etc.
First – Email:
First things first – I have several email addresses I need to check. That is the first thing I do every morning. I also try to check my email throughout the day, more than once a day. You really need to stay on top of your inbox! You should probably respond to most of those messages!
Next, I try to visit my top 10 favorite blogs. I like to see what they are up to, what is new and interesting to them and perhaps leave a comment or two. This is also a time consuming task. I try to take mini-breaks throughout the day and visit one each time.
Another task that I participate in throughout the day – the social networks! I belong to many social networks,
too many. I am definitely stretching myself too thin in that task. I am not able to spend any quality time on the sites to even begin to figure them out! I am going to pick a few of my favorites and concentrate on them. People will perceive you as a spammer if the only time you give to the network is to promote yourself, and I would feel like a spammer as well. I want to make friends, share content and help each other grow our blogs. It’s not all about me!
Writing your post is a good task to spend time on! A little high priority here! I have several drafts going at any given time. Of course, I always carry my notebook with me or my recorder. I always practice my “Three Ideas For Creative Content” to help me with my drafts. This task is another daily ongoing event! I have ideas throughout the day about different posts and I jot them down. I try to finalize my post the last task of the day and have it ready for publication in the morning. I used to use the feature in WordPress that allows you to post at a future date but for some reason, that feature is not working. When I set a future date or time, the post goes off into the blogosphere never to be seen again. Disappears into never-never land! I have been all over looking for an answer but I’m afraid I’m alone with this one! Maybe the next update will fix it?
Web Design:
And certainly not last or even least, the web design aspect of blogging. I actually enjoy tweakin’ my web design and adding my own touch but it can become a tad annoying and frustrating! Not to mention, I often get myself in trouble!
What are your biggest challenges in blogging? How do you handle the frustration? Maybe we have a tip to answer your question or whatever task you are struggling with.

Great post. and Very true Blogging is fun and challenging too. 24 hrs feels too less in this web2.0 gen
I wrote a similar post a while ago about difficult tasks and solutions for work at home entrepreneurs.

I love posts like these. Something many of us can relate to.
My biggest challenge is ‘all of the above’. Having the time to do it ALL and still run a full time business. I’m working on efficiency and I know it will improve over time, but for now I have to deal with a little less sleep.
@ Shri
aaannd something that you think is going to take 5 minutes somehow takes an hour!
I’ll be sure to check out your post!
@ Eric
Working on efficiency is another one of my “things to do” today! I am always trying to figure out how to do more with less. Maybe I spend too much time trying to find better, faster ways!
All these ideas prove great for my new website. I appreciate it and I’ll be reading in the future.
@ Danny
Thank you. Have you launched your site yet?
I still have to figure a few things out before I launch, but I’m almost there. The site will mostly be about how to create a more productive environment for yourself and trying to become a better person.
@ Danny
Sounds great. Make sure you stop back and let us know your link. The best part of the blogosphere is people helping people!
My number one challenge in blogging is translating my personal thoughts into posts that will be relevant and beneficial to my readers. I often have to throw away several finished posts before eventually selecting one I consider suitable. I’ve had to delete a 3000 worded post only to select one that was less than 500 words. This is because my primary concern in blogging is to write something that will be beneficial to my readers. So this is where I have my greatest challenge.
I must admit that the next great challenge is to keep up the traffic at a good level.
I agree…blogging is a very very hardwork and there’s no chance of excelling in it if you don’t have a sustainable passion for it.
Thanks for this thoughtful post
I would have to say getting adequate sleep while trying to meet your personal expectations of what is possible in 2, 4 6, 8 hours etc. Add a zero and you should be right
