The Two Most Powerful Words
I AM
I am happy, I am clever, I am sweet, I am powerful…
I am whatever I want to be, whatever I set my mind to be.
I cannot stress enough how powerful your mind is. Every one of us have proof of this every day.
How many times have you decided or made up your mind to just “do it!” You just said: I’m going to throw caution to the wind and just do it. What’s the worst that can happen? Do you know how many times, how many opportunities, how many chances people pass up or miss because they think they will feel silly or stupid or be embarrassed if they fail. Oh My Goodness!
We should ask ourselves how silly or stupid or embarrassed they should be or feel for missing the opportunity! The fear is all your own and most times without merit!
I have actually experimented with the whole silly, stupid, embarrassed theory! Do yourself a favor. Break free from your fear. Not many people care for more than 2 minutes. The very, very few that pay any attention, and/or thrive on the failure or embarrassment of others don’t matter. You matter.
Think about this. If you succeed in half of what you try, how great is that? So if you try and have the “I AM” attitude 10 times, with this theory you win 5 times. But if you live by the fear theory, you won’t try at all or maybe 1 out of 10 times. You can do the math.
Thomas Edison said:
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
“Results! Why, man, I have gotten a lot of results. I know several thousand things that won’t work.”
“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”
But playing it safe and avoiding mistakes is not why we are here. Come on! Where is the growth opportunity in just doing what you already know how to do? Get out of your comfort zone. You’ve been out of your comfort zone before - you lived. It wasn’t so bad. Really, it may have even been good. Come on, get off the couch - move. You can do it. I have found myself in situations where I think “What am I doing? How did I get here? and the end result has been very rewarding and satisfying. Because I AM whatever I want to be.
What “war stories” do you have when you stepped outside your comfort zone? What were your successes? How will you complete “I AM”?
