Three Ideas For Creative Content
September 18, 2008 by BloggerNewbie
How do you create content? Where do you get your ideas? I get my content from a few different areas. Creating content is easy if you have passion and enjoy what you do.
First - As a business owner, I really do work 24/7. And it is not work if it is something you enjoy. I am always thinking. Everything I do and everything I see, I wonder “how I can turn this into a post?” Wow, did I just say that out loud? Either that sounds like an idea for another post or I need therapy. ![]()
I always carry a small notebook or personal recorder with me. I always keep my notebook handy so when these brilliant
ideas pop into my head I can write them down. If I am driving or in a store or somewhere that I can’t write something down, I use my recorder. I know - geeky! The recorder is a tad embarrassing to the people who are with me. Doesn’t bother me but my kids tend to walk a little faster when I pull out the recorder. (more therapy?)
I come up with titles first or one liners (he he - like a comedian). I usually create posts from titles rather than the other way around. I always have blogging on my mind. I am learning that I need to write down a few of my ideas of what the title means to me. Sometimes I forget what the title means or what my whole idea was when I was thinking about the title.
Second - The internet consumes a large part of my day (this therapy thing is starting to look like a pattern)
and is an infinite supply of ideas. We all start out on the internet looking for one thing. We go from one site to another, oh yeah, back to the original search, more clicks, more resources! Just “my yahoo” home page has a zillion ideas to blog about. I get so many ideas from the internet that I get stuck trying to choose. I write down my titles or one liners and develop them later.
Third - other blogs. In my surfing today, I noticed the Blog Herald had a post by Jonathan Bailey
written the other day with a few ideas on this very topic - Where I Get Story Ideas. He had a few different ideas as well. Content is everywhere, and everyone has their own opinion. Take the idea and make it your own. Put your own unique spin on it.
Do you have a different way to create content other than the usual suggestions? Share your secrets! How creative are you?

Hi BloggerNewbie,
Bloggers can never be short of topics with these tips. Apart from these, I have a few more favorites.
One of them is, browsing for questions & threads apt to my blog topic + my expertise in forums/communities. I answer that question on my blog at length and post an excerpt & link on the forum. The additional advantage I noticed with such posts is that they become popular almost instantly
Great idea! I have heard about the forums but I haven’t been to any yet. Not really sure where to start with that! Any direction?
