Do Unto Others?
Do unto others as 
as you would have others do unto you? or as others do to you? Treat people like you want to be treated or treat people how they treat you? What philosophy do you live by? I am often torn between the two. I can’t decide which one has worked for me in the past.
Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. That makes sense to me. I actually try to treat people how I want to be treated. How much more direction does a person need? She’s nice to me – hmmm, I wonder if she likes that?
If you don’t want to be ripped off, don’t rip off others. If you don’t want your spouse to cheat on you, don’t cheat on your spouse. If you don’t want to be judged, don’t judge. If you don’t want people to be rude to you, don’t be rude to them. It is so simple. Imagine if everyone lived by this rule? If only..
Then there is the 
“do unto others as others do unto you”. I have to admit, I do get into that mindset sometimes. It doesn’t last very long because it is just not me. It doesn’t work very well for me. Even though it is tempting to act like so many other people, it is difficult to maintain “the fake you”.
Eventually, you fade away from the people that treat you badly. Who is going to keep going back for more? Not for any length of time anyway. I have a high threshold of tolerance so it takes me awhile but eventually I get it.
I like to be direct with people and for people to be direct with me. 
If you aren’t that fond of me, then don’t bother coming around. There is a good deal of work in being vague. It might take some time for me to be aware that you don’t want me around by treating me like a doormat. That is the message you are sending.
So to be direct and sum it up, my philosophy is to “do unto others as I would have others do unto me.” Too much energy the other way.
